is steve. >>> thank you very much. our system is moving on shore as advertised. the rain is picking up especially towards the north bay and we have wind and rain picking up and most of the heavy rain is still on and off shore right now. things are picking up in the north bay and it looks like it is about over for them and it is beginning to really start to intensify and our front still has a ways to go but it is a fast moving system which is not going to stall out. up towards clover dale and lake county, things are beginning to light up and rushing river, not too bad. nothing too heavy, and in marin county, it is starting to move on shore so there is a little bit of an enhancement so out to the east bay this has been light. reports of rain are starting in capitoa but it is later than sooner when they will get the bulk of this but everybody is in on this. rain is picking up at half-moon bay airport and by 11:00 and noon this system is gone blasting through. by 8:00, and 9:00 it is moving out by noon. that is the good news and it will not be late until thursday and friday and that's th

. the storm has come through. we have live team coverage on the storm watch. steve paulson is in the weather center to tell you how much rain has fallen. war live in marin county and in san francisco. we begin with at sfo. any flight delays? >> reporter: yeah. there are a quite a few. the airport is reporting more than 70 flight cancellations. there are a handful of flights that are on time. there are many delays. some last had more than an hour. there is a little break right now. the airport says expect delays throughout the day. rain and wind outside, passengers waiting and looking to see if their next flight is on time inside. >> i should have been on the 7:00 flight this morning. due to the weather, i'll be catching the 11:45 to dallas. >> former track legend jim heinz was supposed to be an earlier flight to texas. because of our weather in the bay, some scheduled events will have to wait. >> i had had some press conferences scheduled for this afternoon that would have to be put off until tomorrow. >> the rain and wind played a number on flight schedules at sfo. the faa issue add ground
is monitoring the potentially high winds on the richmond san rafael bridge as steve paulson tracks the storm. but claudine wong joins us now from marin county where flooding is expected. claudine? >> reporter: we're in san anselmo. they prepare for any kind of flooding here. let let's -- let's have a look at the conditions. no -- when you talk about preparations for a storm like this, you come here and they got it down. those people you talk to out here will tell you their businesses are flooded, so much in fact, that they have these flood gates in when the -- the potential time for flooding and that protects the store when you go in. they are not worried so much of nothinged drains. i am gonna walk you around. this is probably one of the big reasons why you don't see sandbags out here yet. there's a complex system. take a look right now. you can see it's very low right now. a little over 2 feet is what their gauges are saying right now. you can access that all of the time. residents can keep an eye on this real-time data. 13 feet is the lowest point in the downtown area. they have a lot of
this if you break through that fog, low- to-mid 60s. here is tara. >>> all right, steve this is a look at 680 and you can see traffic is moving along fairly at this hour and up next we have a heavy fog advisory for the bay bridge and you can see folks headed into the city and definitely give yourself some extra time. lorraine blanco is out there. how are people looking are they taking it slowly? >> yes, they are not taking it that slowly and the fog has not let up since we have been out here. just behind me is the toll plaza and you can't see it at all. now traffic is moving, moving rather slowly here and visibility is very low. here is a look at some iphone video as we head down in el cerrito tow. even -- el cerrito. in oakland you could not read the signs and driving around the east bay is a challenge this morning. we also shot video near berkeley and that could be tricky and today drivers are breaking more in heavy fog. advisories to tell you about, there is an advisory on the bay bridge as well as the san mateo and the venetia bridge and you will want to give yourself some extra time, slo
at 280 in san jose, traffic is looking good in both directions, here is steve. >>> well, we have a little bit of a lull before the system comes in and if you leave now you might beat the bulk of it. everything is offshore poised to move in and today it is widespread, it will rain all the way from ukiah and santa cruz and it looks like a fast mover. we will focus our attention on the north bay and again the santa cruz mountains, saturday it takes more aim at that. it is possible we could see 10 to 8 more inches. cape mendocino north, there will still be a lot of systems and now it is becoming one and it will move on shore and as long as it keeps marching, it will take aim at the marin coast. also the rushing river area, things are beginning to start nothing too heavy but it will pick up around 7:00, 8:00 or 9:00. also in mendocino, and lake county and down to santa cruz and monterey it will be a rainy morning. it is not too heavy yet but it is on its way. when you see darker green rain begins to pick up and that will not come in for another couple of hours but it is a sign of things to c
if you can. >>> up next you can see traffic is slowing in both directions. 4:46 let's head over to steve. >>> dense fog advisory takes us until 9:00 and there are spots where it is clear and all of a sudden you will hit that wall of fog but it is about anywhere. it looks like it is increasing, no clouds yet and we are waiting for that system to come in. 30s , 40s and also 50s on the temperatures. i think it will hold things in check. most of tomorrow will have increasing clouds and out there they are setting the table for what looks to be a very big pattern and very hazy skies, once the fog burns out, for some it may take awhile. for some there are some towards the north bay and we will fine tune it with just a heads-up. hazy skies, temperatures if you are stuck, if you can break through it you don't have it at all. today and tomorrow it will be fog and increasing clouds tuesday and it looks like the morning rain and wind and a very wet pattern is setting under which is almost impossible and it looks very wet as we go to the weekend. >>> in egypt protesters are squaring up after they ga

earlier. here's steve. >>> thank you, tara. cloudy skies or mostly cloudy skies. the clouds have lifted. there could be some pockets -- the -- there could be some pockets of it but nothing like yesterday. but kind of a gray day. tomorrow morning we'll have rain. nothing you haven't seen or handled before. it will be a fast-moving system. it will set the stage for what comes in thursday into sunday. the wind will cavel off. could get some gusts 30, 50 miles an hour. thursday, sunday, that's when things get interesting. i think it will start in the north bay and make it to the santa cruz mountains. it's areas of fog and cloudy skies. did see a few clouds. our system is out here. when you start to see him. that's a good sign. if they topple over. this one is not doing that. our rainy forecast begins wednesday. goes into sunday, monday/tuesday, between that wednesday and sunday time frame, windy -- windy pattern. it's going to be a little tricky on the amounts or the totals. one forecast model is unbelievably bullish for rain. the other one is rainy. but still the north bay, look for heavy

traffic on 880. also slow traffic getting out to 92. >> let's go to steve. >>> well, santa rosa says mostly cloudy. although ukiah says light rain and all the way down to santa rosa -- san jose. so there's still some in there but the main core of the system is pushing east and south. it is weakening. but there's decent totals. oakland hills, 1.5. emeryville, 1.04. the city 1.25. there were heavier amounts towards -- der row. rodeo -- cazadero, rodeo 2.83. sfo and hayward, both about 45/100ths. kind of winding down. but still kind of misty, drizzly, cloudy, fog being reported. santa rosa says fog. light showers up in marin county south over towards the east bay. again, most of the heavier stuff looks like it is out of the peninsula and starting to head down more towards san jose, santa clara and even that looks weaker now. there's been reports of moderate rain towards san jose. you can see down towards morgan hill some rain and scotts valley. we're not down with the cloud cover. it will be a cloudy to mostly cloudy day. but high pressure showing signs of building in later today and to

at northbound and southbound 280 that traffic is light. let's go to steve. >>> good morning, sal. thank you. well our system finally got here. it lost a little bit of punch as it came from northern california by that i mean eureka and crescent city. still gusts of 40 miles an hour. it's sliding by now. but there is definitely breaks to the north. the front is sliding by now. very slowly i might add. it's not moving very quick. there has been pretty good totals. there is breaks in the north bay. peninsula over to the east bay. there have been bursts of moderate rain. some areas is like a drizzle. keep that in mind. also toward the south bay and the peninsula you can see there is a little bit of a back edge here but still for another couple hours we dealing with this system. it's not moving very quick. 60-degrees in oakland. 60 san jose. it's mild. this is not a cold system by any stretch of the imagination. when things clear out of here which will be later today and tonight there will be big-time valley fog. today we'll have to deal with the morning rain and clouds. windy up in the hills. ve
